As an academic school we pride ourselves on the progress made by each pupil on their own individual learning journey.

We set the bar high for every pupil at Colchester Prep & High School, giving each of them the individual attention they need to stay motivated, work hard and achieve their full potential. The results they go on to achieve are a source of pride to us all.

ACADEMIC RESULTS

OUR PUPILS ARE CELEBRATING YET ANOTHER INCREDIBLE YEAR OF GCSE RESULTS

With an overall pass rate of 97%, and over 1/3rd of the grades secured at the highest levels of academic achievement, Grades 7 - 9 (National Average 22%), pupils from Colchester Prep and High School are celebrating another incredible year of GCSE results.

Excellence was demonstrated within the STEAM subjects; with 100% pass rate in all separate sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and 47% of pupils securing the top grades, 7-9 in Biology, 35% in Mathematics, and a 100% pass rate in Music.

100% of pupils achieved a pass grade in FSMQ Additional Mathematics Level 3, and that 100% of pupils passed their Statistics GCSE examination in Year 10, with 56% of grades achieved at 7-9. Pupils also performed well in Humanities subjects, with 45% gaining 7-9 in Geography, and 47% gaining 7-9 in History.

The majority of pupils leaving our Senior School will go on to attend the Sixth Form at The Colchester Royal Grammar School, Colchester County High School for Girls or the Sixth Form College where they will study A-Levels. Many will then go on to study degrees at University.

BRONZE ART AWARD

13 Year 9 Pupils were awarded a Bronze Arts Award.

The Arts Award is a qualification for our pupils who want to deepen their engagement and understanding of the arts, embrace new art forms and technologies and build creative and leadership skills.

UKMT MATHEMATICS CHALLENGE

• Senior UKMT Mathematical Challenge (for Years 12 and 13)
• 2 pupils received Bronze and 1 silver.
• UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge (for Years 9, 10 and 11)
• 9 Bronze, 7 Silver and 2 Gold certificates.
• UKMT Junior Maths Challenge (for years 5 to 8)
• 2 Golds, 2 Silvers and 13 Bronze certificates.
• 1 pupil qualified for the next round Junior Olympiad.

The UKMT Mathematics Challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

BEBRAS COMPUTING CHALLENGE

Of the 148 pupils that participated in the Bebras Computing Challenge, 11% went through to the Oxford University Challenge Round which puts them in the top 10% of the country.

The Bebras Computing Challenge introduces computational thinking to pupils and is designed to get them excited about computing.

MICROSOFT OFFICE ACCREDITATIONS

This year we are proud to report that over 80 MOS qualifications are now held in the school by pupils with 14 on the cusp of attaining an MOA (Microsoft Office Associate). One pupil in Year 9 came 4th in the MOS UK and IE Championships

The Microsoft Office Specialist Program provides industry-leading assessments of skills and knowledge through project-based testing, giving students and professionals real-world exercises to appraise their understanding of Microsoft Office.

ENGLISH SPEAKING BOARD

• 100% of our Year 7 pupils received a Merit or higher with 21% achieving a Distinction.
• 100% of our Year 9 pupils received a Merit or higher with 24% achieving a Distinction

The English Speaking Board exams are assessed by an External Examiner and are designed to test candidates’ skills in presentation, discussion, group-management, literary analysis, listening and audience participation.

CREST AWARDS

11 pupils who attend the Senior School Drone Club received their Bronze certificate CREST Super Star Science Award.
