The start of a new day in our Prep School is the most inspiring and enjoyable time, seeing our girls and boys walking into school with a smile on their faces and a spring in their step, ready to begin another day of fun-filled, inspirational and future-focused learning.

OUR APPROACH
The individual attention that each child receives means their learning journey can be tailored to their individual needs. Our pastoral team support and nurture the children giving them the safest possible environment in which to explore and challenge themselves.
Even as the end of the day comes many of our children elect to stay in school and enjoy one of the many enrichment activities and clubs on offer.
PASTORAL CARE
They understand how they learn best, when they are struggling but afraid to ask, when they need challenging and equally, when they need supporting. Our pastoral team, headed by Mrs Smith are on hand to deal with all aspects of pastoral care from friendships and anxiety to self-confidence and self-esteem.
With this outstanding level of support in place our children feel safe and supported and can focus all their energies on learning and development of their amazing talents.
Extra Curricular & clubs
Our Prep children enjoy a wealth of opportunity to develop new skills, talents and interests with over 20 different clubs available during the week.
Clubs are booked on a termly basis and may vary during the year and by year group.
At Colchester Prep & High School we believe it is important for children to want to be here. That is why we regularly invite parents and children to visit our school.
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
To ensure that our pupils leave our Prep School with the skills they need to become the changemakers of tomorrow's world, our pupils are presented with numerous opportunities to demonstrate leadership capacity by participating in school decisions that will actively shape their lives and the lives of their peers.
TRIPS
Trips vary depending on age but over the last few years have included visits to Layer Marney Towers to learn about the Tudors, the local Synagogue to support their learning on Judaism, and Colchester Castle to immerse themselves in the lives of the Romans.
Our pupils in Years 3 to 6 also have the opportunity to attend outdoor activity trips with the Cognita Active Learning Group. Where the pupils develop skills in team building whilst learning to cook on an open fire, orientate themselves in the woods, throw a tomahawk or navigate the high ropes.
Years 5 and 6 also attend a PGL summer adventure trip where they learn to surf and take part in outdoor obstacle courses.
