A STEAM CURRICULUM

READY FOR THE UNKNOWN

To ensure our pupils are future ready, we introduce every child to a broad, well-balanced STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) based curriculum. Designed to inspire the next generation of tech entrepreneurs, digital creatives, engineers, and inventors.

Pupils will be able to develop core competencies such as collaboration, effective communication, critical and design-led thinking, entrepreneurship, problem-solving, leadership, and resilience. Essential attributes required to thrive today and in tomorrow’s rapidly evolving workplace. Your child could be the driverless car mechanic, metaverse developer or telesurgeon of the future.

WHAT IS STEAM?

Our parents and staff discuss how the world faces increasing change, challenges and complexity and education needs to enable children to ask the right questions and find new solutions.

THE STEAM DISCIPLINES

Our aim is to ignite an interest in all our pupils through a combination of core curriculum and co-curricular activities

SCIENCE

Incorporating Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, we inspire our pupils to examine the structure and behaviour of the natural and physical world, through observation and experimentation.

TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING

Our STEAM programme incorporates collaborative, active learning activities including programming Bee Bots in Nursery, 3D Design using SketchUp, computer programming, App development and Podcasting.

ART

The Arts are at the heart of our STEAM curriculum, inspiring creativity and critical thinking, enhancing visual learning and boosting higher decision- making skills.

MATHEMATICS

We focus on everything from introductory algebra to geometrical constructions and challenge our pupils to delve into mathematics as a concept that can be applied to the real-world and problem solving.

MAKER-SPACES FOR THE FUTURE

Opened in September 2024, our brand new STEAM Centre of Excellence and Innovation enables the delivery of a forward-thinking education that perfectly equips our pupils to step fearlessly into the ‘future jobs’ that haven’t even been invented yet.

The new STEAM Centre will include ‘maker-spaces’ dedicated to:

Why STEAM and not STEM?

READY TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

While STEM expressly focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEAM builds on these concepts through the creative process. The “Arts” refers not only to visual Arts and Design but also to the Social and Linguistic Arts: Languages, Humanities, Music, Drama, Dance and Media.

As the world faces increasing change, challenges and complexity, education needs to enable children to ask the right questions and find new solutions. STEAM with its focus on not only the “how” and “what” but also the “who” and “why” — encourages pupils to approach real-world scientific problems with consideration for their impact on humanity. Creating the changemakers of tomorrow’s world and the 21st-century workplace.

How Does It Work?

READY FOR THE REAL WORLD

A STEAM education is a holistic interdisciplinary approach that uses both sides of the brain.

Pupils may have a greater aptitude and affinity for either Arts and Humanities or Mathematics and Science, but a STEAM education, through project based learning, helps them to conceptualise these and see how they all relate to each other in the real world.

A Passion for Steam

READY TO ASPIRE HIGHER

We offer a range of clubs dedicated to STEAM to extend their learning beyond the classroom. From Science Club in Pre-Prep, to Maths Games & Puzzles Clubs in Prep, and Drone & Robotics Clubs in Seniors, our pupils are provided with a wealth of creative hobbies to ignite their imaginations.

Pupils also have the opportunity to enter into national competitions and attain professional accreditations including The Arts Award, Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge and Microsoft Office Specialist.

Ready for the Future

GREEN AND STEAM

As conversations nationally and globally focus on how to work together to tackle climate change, we as a school are passionate about inspiring our pupils to look at ways in which they can help make the world a greener place.

Through our “Green and STEAM” Curriculum, we provide our pupils with the skills needed to play an active role in finding solutions to our environmental challenges and provide insights into Green Careers they can explore.

We have been very impressed with the standard of work produced and are so aware of the importance of these skills for the future in a technologically advanced world.
