We are delighted that Colchester Prep & High School has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award 2022-23 with Distinction.

As part of the accreditation, Eco Club pupils conducted an environmental review, demonstrating our commitment to the eco-cause by placing ‘sustainability at the heart of our school strategy.’

In reviewing our application, the assessors noted:

“our school’s excellent commitment to both the programme and the eco-cause.”

“ how the Eco-Committee carefully considered the involvement of their entire school community in their planned Eco-Schools’ activities, to achieve maximum impact and to raise eco-awareness”.

“how environmental issues have been linked within our curriculum; notably layering sustainability and climate change into your studies”.

“ how we have improved our school environment with energy saving, recycling and pollution reducing measures, and, most of all our great biodiversity initiatives.”

Eco-Schools is an international education programme that prompts young people to explore sustainability and climate change and take action.

Colchester Prep & High School is committed to becoming carbon net zero and have recently presented at the Festival of Education on “Placing Sustainability at the Heart of Your School Strategy”.  We have established a School Sustainability Action Plan and Statement of Commitments to demonstrate our Green Credentials.
